With Martin Wuerthner now working on Tech/Easiwriter there have been a number of recent updates that make up version 8.31 which will be on sale at the show. Both applications are now "26/32 bit compatible (i.e. one version for both RISC OS 3.5+ & 5)." and have "ArtWorks support, Auto-save and much more." Mike told The Icon Bar.
Mike then gave us an announcement from Martin Wuerthner which detailed future development of Tech/Easiwriter.
Martin detailed plans for simple macros: "First of all, there will be abbreviation expansion using recorded keyboard macros, so you can define your own abbreviations by recording sequences of keypresses and binding them to abbreviations. Later, you simply type an abbreviation and have it expanded either using a special keyboard shortcut or (optionally) by typing a dot. Since recorded abbreviations can include function keys and even expansions of other abbreviations, you can do much more than just expand an abbreviation to a word. You can for example make the word appear in bold or insert complete structures."

As well as these simple macros there are also going to be an even more powerful feature: "A fully fledged modular programming language that allows you to write your own macro applets.". Macro applets have almost endless possibilities, and can be used to do tasks such as ensuring all headings start with a capital letter.
