Hi people!

First let me say that I’m a complete riscos novice, and I only got hold of my a3010 recently.

The problem I have is trying to 'unzip' files I’ve downloaded from the net (via my pc). I have gotten a hold of the spark: splug.bas (self extracting file) and followed the relevant instructions for extraction on my a3010.

But what do I need to do to unzip files using this?

Any advice on the matter is much appreciated.

many thanks,

harm unhappy

rite,
just double click on !sparkplug so that it is loaded.
then copy the .zip file onto a disk.
open the disk on the A3010.
there should be a file called [zipfilename]/ZIP
click middle button, then find the option called "set type", and type "archive" into there, and press return smile
then you should be able to double click on the zip file, and !Sparkplug will load it for you

Thanks mark!

but when I double-click !sparkplug I get an error message reporting 'unable to find resources'. Can you let me know what I'm doing wrong?

cheers,

harm.

You need to make sure the computer has 'seen' a copy of !System. You should have got a copy of it with the computer; if it's got a hard disk then have a look round that, or on the RISC OS 3 applications & support disks. If you don't have the disks (or the contents of them) then it might be a good idea to get in contact with whoever you got the computer from.
