Possibly this is related to the browser I'm using (firefox), and possibly it already exists but I'm just too dumb to find it, but could a link to the forum that a topic is in be added to the bottom of the topic page.

Reason being, when I get to the end of a topic and use the browser's "back" functionality, the little envelope that indicates I've read the thread remains closed. If I want it to be opened, I have to scroll all the way back to the top of the topic and click on the link there.

For a long thread, this can be a pain.

It'd be both time-saving and also and RSI-friendly not to have to do this.

Sounds like a good idea. In the meantime, you could press the Home key to jump to the top of the page.

That, sir, is a good suggestion, and one I shall begin to use.

So long as my other hand isn't... um... occupied.

*Ahem*

Probably easier to copy the whole link generation code from the top - i.e. include the link to the list of forums as well. Some people seem to miss that link entirely.

Or how about the little white triangles that reside in the bottom right hand corner of every single post in a thread...?

You seem to have developed a habit of saying exactly what it was I meant to say in the first place, Rich :)

The ones which, hitherto now, I'm pretty sure must have been invisible? I have never noticed those before.

An excellent solution. And which doesn't require the use of my 'spare' hand.

I still think it'd be nice to put the:

"The Icon Bar forums: Site Comments: Links back to forum at bottom of topic page"

bit at the bottom too, though.

OK - I think I've got it. The "breadcrumbs" should be sorted, with post topic/search but without the user stuff. I also coloured in the footer to make it look better ;)

I also tried putting the page (number) navigation in the top as well as the bottom of the thread list.

And what happened to the gap between the links at the top and the threaded list/forum index header? it looks a bit cramped now.

It's an exact copy of what's above (unless you're an admin ;)). So yes, it lets you know what thread you're in; handy for tabbed browsers.

Tough. It's a standard header; I can't really pick and choose.

(Well, I could, but it's hard enough just finding the right place to put stuff, never mind working out the different pages)

What are you using? It looks fine to me (using Firefox). With the [p] [/p] in there, there was a huge gap - which looks even more silly with the page navigation at the top of the list of threads.

Hmm... didn't take the same page to make one look worse than the other? :)

I don't think it looks bad this way - there's a gap of about half a line, rather than the two or three line gap you get with the tags in and using Firefox.

How can I take screenshots of the same page if the gap shows on some but not on others? :)

Well, I like the gap

Must install firefox and see what all the fuss is about.

Hmm, it does appear to be an IE problem. The gap isn't particularly large in netsurf, but it is there on every page I've checked.

IE's habit of adding random bits of white space is one of the most annoying things about it, w.r.t. web design, if you ask me.

Thank you for my breadcrumbs, Rich!
