I used RedirectMatch to shift all requests to /alpha-board to /forums - including looking for viewthread requests.

Of course, the likelihood of old-style thread IDs matching the new database format is pretty much nil, so if people are actually looking for old records they're going to get a pretty random page in return, but in my status reports I get less errors reported from search engines hitting the forums ;)
