You think it would be wise to allow people to post images in the playpen? |

We've been through all of this before They have our icons because our forums went down so much or somesuch excuse As the Drobesters have pointed out, image uploading is very easy to do. However, I've a religious objection to images in a forum. There's a certain gaming forum I frequent (I could tell you more, but then I'd have to kill you) that's basically all images - f***ing huge sigs all over the place complete with stats on their gaming, how big their computer is, dick size, etc. etc., all of which has to be waded through to see that they've just posted a "me too" message. I guess on the other hand you have B3ta.com, which is all about the images, but they only seem to post one Photoshopped image to start a thread and possibly some related images or a "Woo Yay" congratualtory message. Anything else gets frowned on, so it kind of self regulates in the end. The images in the sigs are smaller than our avatars too, and only for people who have donated money or something. However, it should be pointed out that B3ta doesn't host the images, they get uploaded to the poster's own account and linked to. So, if you want to open a debate about it, go ahead, and at the end I'll see what can be arranged. ________ Cheers, Rich. |

Images in forums are evil! However, it should be pointed out that B3ta doesn't host the images, they get uploaded to the poster's own account and linked to.Yes, some kind of image hosting service could be useful for those without their own web space. The image can then be linked to, but I don't think it should be included directly in the thread. |

I'm against big images in sig's for the same reason as Rich says. It's just irritating seeing the same big image again and again all the way down a page. I like the idea of images in posts though and if they're too big then moderators can delete them. |

OK, so far we're looking at some kind of image hosting service, which doesn't have to be TIB specific I guess; and to use them in the forums, <img> tag support. No votes for just linking to the image yet ? ________ Cheers, Rich. |

No votes for just linking to the image yet ?*sticks hand up* At least the drobe method produces thumbnails rather than lumping full size images in. If there was an option in the control panel to show/thumbnail/hide images that would be ok, I suppose. Remember that adding images to tib forums could make it rather less "work safe" ( ahem!) and actually reduce viewing figures. |
