I might be not much botherd about this risponce, but if you don't ask you'll never know. After my thread 3.1 in Hardware. I now can convert MP3 to WAV on the PC and move them through the ZipDrive to my A3010. Is there aney way I can convert them back into some other format and what application would I need to read them. As this would save swallowing up the rest of my hard disc, (810Mb and aprrox 50% with apps). As I'm saying, I'll only have to wait untill my son has finished with the PC. But I wouldn't mind playing them on my machine while i'm working on it. |

There is a utility called !soundcon that allows changing between formats, however there is a trade off between quality, size and processor power required. If you converted to 8 bit it would halve the size (Shouldn't notice drop in quality on 8 bit sound system). Sample rate could be halved and it could be converted to mono. I would assume converting to Acorn Replay format would be the most sensible. |

Souncon supports lots of formats (not mp3 tho').

Acorn Replay format is (ish) like WAV, but with the ability to play videos too.
It came out around the time of the RPC, and so was supplied as some of the software.
If you dont have it, you can get it from either the Acorn FTP site as a single 7meg? file (if the site exists) or alternatively get the Acorn User issue that had both the Acorn FTP site, and the "new" !Boot sequence (also includes the Replay player too) |

I'm in a terrible need for source of modules for RISC OS 3.7 (sorry haven't upgraded yet, lack the money)
I'm not sure what modules I need but I downloaded the Oregano demo and it won't run because I haven't got some modules installed. I need at least version 0.12 of the AcornURI module and probably some more but have no idea where to get it. |

The new boot regularly appears on Acorn user CDs.
Definately worth going for RO4, unless you are planning to go to a Kinetic.
When I got mine the SA233T was supplied a month later, so I got to see the improvement on a 600.
Was worth every penny - definate speed up. |
