Unregistered user | I don't know if it's worth mentioning but RiscStation launched a "music solution" package at Epsom which contained Sibelius 6. Now don't get excited as I don't know if they have access to anything other than the current version, but it does seem strange offering a package to potential customers in the full knowledge that sometime in the next 12 months it won't be able to run on new hardware. Maybe it's worth dropping them a mail. However later versions would either require someone hacking the ARM code or porting the PC version. At a guess I'd say that GCC is probably almost at the stage where it could be used for the port - we still need a decent class library though although the RiscGUILib guys are working on it. |

Unregistered user | Well is there one? And is it better than the LATEST version. Or even close. It's a real shame that this platform used to be so good for music (etc) and in one swoop that's finished. And I haven't looked at any alternatives. So what other notation packages are there on the acorn then? What's Rhapsody like then? IS there HOPE??!??!? Sorry to be so pessimistic half the time but it does tend to provoke comment

Unregistered user | John @ Windfall says that it is possible to get Sibelius to run under ViewFinder but he's not going to bother for one "crippled" program.
Presumably the new 32bit RISC OS will be able to run the old apps. They're not in the real world if they think people will upgrade to an OS where there is no software! As for new versions, Benn Finn @ Sieblius says that the new version was going to be released for the Acorn but they couldn't when Acorn shelved their Workstation division. He now says it's a few years too late but he hasn't ruled it out completely. Please do send me info on C++ developments and I'll pass them on. Email ms@arenaman.com There is hope |
