Could somebody explain the difference between Henrik Pedersen's !Flash download (mentioned in Acorn User) and Leo Smier'
s version (recently advertised on c.s.a.a.)? |

Maybe if someone knows where to get a recent browser for RISC OS, freeware/shareware if one's available. I've been seeing references to the freeware version of Webite but all link to the same dead link. I'd like to try some webpages on a RISC OS browser but have only gotten my hands on Oregano. What other browsers are people using for RISC OS now? |

Could somebody explain the difference between Henrik Pedersen's !Flash download (mentioned in Acorn User) and Leo Smier'
s version (recently advertised on c.s.a.a.)? Read the accompanying readme files, but one or the other is an improved version with sound... unless those improvements got folded back into the original which was then even more improved... bah, rtfm. |

I think Leo's said that they'd had sound improvements in the last (two) update(s?), which was very recently. I'm guessing his is the "proper" version to get. |

Eewww!
Is it quite safe to have a computer in the loo? So you have like a desk in there, and fiddle with a mouse while on the bog?

No no no, this isn't right. Eewww!
It being the smallest room in the house (quite literally in my place, it's tiny) the actual machine sits outside in the hallway, the monitor pokes it's nose through the door and I use a keyboard with KeyMouse to emulate the mouse while, um, sitting down.The main bedroom is next to the bog, and there's a second RiscPC quite close to that wall, so it'd make sense if I got a TV converter (or more correctly, a new power supply for the TV converter I've already got) and just used my old portable TV and a joypad emulating the mouse on the more powerful machine, while still allowing monitor, keyboard and mouse to control the RPC when I'm in the bedroom (it's for taking notes when I'm too lazy to get out of bed). Of course I've also got to get a proper fileserver set up that can download the "newspaper" automatically, not the ad-hoc "bring RPC home from work every night, dial up manually, load WebTool manually, grab pages" that I have to do now. |

Woo, I was recently asked to put up a page for hard-to-find downloads in the comms section; I've put up links to the suggested resources and added a local mirror (http://www.iconbar.com/comms/downloads.html). What else should go on there? And is it a good idea for all the sections (desktop, programming etc.)? Any suggestions and URLs here or via email please!  Cheers,

I've downloaded ArcWeb to put up on the site, I just didn't get time last night. ArcWeb isn't great - no proper tables etc., it's getting on a bit - but is the only real choice for the ARM 3 machines on my network due to it's smaller footprint and general requirements. At least I can read the latest news in my toilet thanks to an A5000 and pages cached on my RiscPC |
