Unregistered user | I will shortly be getting a Xerox colour printer (from http://www.freecolourprinter.com, cost £47). I downloaded the latest Printers defs file last night and found no xerox PDF (except for the 4060). I have not done any RISCOS printing for many years and would like any info on what PDF to use for this printer. Thanks, - incubus |

Unregistered user | Is the printer PCL compliant or does it use PostScript (if so an exact match for PDF may not be required) ? |

Unregistered user | Not sure. What's PCL? I will be picking up the printer this weekend (I hope). Presumably it'll say in the manual. Are there any handy websites which detail printer compatibilities? IIRC, years ago, (perhaps on the BBCs) you could choose a printer that was "generic Epson compatible". Do similar conveniencies still exist? - incubus |

Unregistered user | IIRC, Xerox printers use the same printing engine as HPs, which are PCL printers. A lot of printers have HP4/5 emulation, and of course, PostScript is a standard, but I find that PS printers tend to be a little more expensive than their non-PS counterparts. I don't like Xerox though....I found one printer of theirs where the driver wouldn't allow you to print more than one document of the same name (or multiple copies of the same document) at once! Well, that's Windoze for you... |

Unregistered user | I got my printer today and after a bit of experimentation it seems that the HP DJ850C driver works with it. Thanx, - incubus |
