Unregistered user Enough is enough.
My previous posts will detail the trouble I have had so far (and how much it's cost me)

The Oregano Browser is actually quite good apart from a couple of niggles.
But that's as far as it goes.
I have been unable to connect with Socketeer to Free-Online to retieve my current account, and Messenger simply defies belief.
So,
£58 for a good browser.
£100+ for Ant suite (except that Marcel has been described as Primitive)
Which means another £30 for Messenger Pro which in a review (forget where) was said to be far better than Outlook Express.
Frankly, having seen Messenger I find that impossible to believe. Perhaps the viewer was of the belief that if it's by Microsoft, it's crap.
Nearly £200 for a half decent Internet setup?
No thankyou.
I'll go back to using my crap Outlook express, Internet Exploder, and Windoze and put up with the occasional crash.

Severely hacked off!

Unregistered user I do agree with some of this, the standard of web browsers on Risc Os is low. News and mail software are quite good !pluto is wonderful (and set I have used outlook) In a way I think we have too many bwe browsers Browse, Frasco, Webster XL and now the new one. It if no good blaiming the web sites, the web is not going to change for us, we must improve these browsers!

Unregistered user You could always try ArmTCP as your dialler. You can download a copy from http://www.tristone.co.uk/software/acorn/.

The documentation is a little sparse, and as I am not at my RPC atm I can't be sure if there is support for Free Online, but I think there is. I have some basic instructions for setting up ArmTCP (not for Free Online but the principle is the same) on http://homepages.tesco.net/~brian.howlett/. I have used it as my dialler to Freeserve, BTInternet, Tesconet, G-Wizz and Freenetname on both RO 3.7, 4.0 and 4.02 without any problems.

I used to use Socketeer, and found it to be an excellent dialler, but because it was undergoing such rapid development it was difficult for me to keep up. ArmTCP is extremely stable, and has never crashed on my RPC (touch wood!)...

Unregistered user You could have a look at ZyXel's web site. This is a FAQ in .PDF format which has details of the AT commands for this TA. Then all you need to do is edit the ISPModem text file in !ATCPconfig and you should be able to get it working... ;-)

Unregistered user Messenger pro is nice, very fast (not like webster) Certainly a good as Outlook express, and no windows scripting host to allow dodgy emails to eat your system. certain parts of the set up are not as obvious as I would like, but that's down to the lack of dial up networking on Riscos. (Which hopefully has been banged on about on this site enough for someone to get the message.)

If you're gonna use some kind of acorn email program DO NOT BUY VOYAGER!!!! because when you realise that you are being extremely overcharged by argonet and want to change to an isp who offers free calls for example, you're gonna need to buy a whole load of new applications, and so argonet trap you in with their service.
If you're looking for speed increases i have just bought a new pc, (700mhz athlon) and when using the internet with argonet it is blistering fast compared with using it on my strangarm risc pc, which kept on "sleeping" and was very unreliable.
