RISC OS, too cool for Javascript.

Who owns the rights to Eternal Destiny now? I'm assuming it's Rob Templeman, who I can't seem to find contact details for. I do have a little hunch that it fell into the hands of R-Comp at some point though. Hmm.

Would be very nice to see it made available again.

Are you mad? Feeling nostalgic I tried playing it again a few months ago. It was still the same buggy, ugly piece of sh*t that it was when I bought it.

Well there's several schools of thought on that.

I'm afraid nostalgic memories only remember the good parts, I'm sure if I were to play it now it won't be anything like as good as I remember it. I know this too well from my recent attic-delve, where I realised many of my old Dreamcast and Playstation titles are actually very poorly designed and not that fun to play. Sigh.

Actually my main gripe with Eternal Destiny is that the "invert mouse" option doesn't seem to work. If that had worked then I would have been able to look past some of the other issues, and would have at least stood a chance against the cheaty AI that snipes you from half a mile away.

I've got no idea how I managed to get past the first few levels the first time I played it.

It is possibly the worst FPS ever created in terms of stability and quality of graphics. And I'm including all the things that used the Build engine on the PC. Dreadful and unplayable.

ISTR there were some very entertaining arguments involving its developer and someone who was writing (or had written?) another FPS on usenet.

They were probably the best bit. smile

I'm pretty sure the CDs ended up with Acorn User. I know Steve Turnbull tried to sell them all to me but there was some sort of disagreement about royalties. Steve said he'd paid a lump sum to the author to cover the royalties on all the CDs he had but the author said he hadn't. So I didn't bother (he wanted too much anyway).

Since I've never heard of anyone else having them I assume the marketing rights will rest with Acorn User but the copyright with the Author, who I think was Robert Templeton (apologies if I've mis-remembered) which would make things rather difficult.

My recollection is that (at the time), Tau Press, bought a load of CDs and inlays to sell the game at about £30 a throw. I only recall posting about two copies.

I don't think I helped matters by butchering the demo on the AUCD3. I certainly couldnt play it, and probably wouldn't want to now, having been spoiled by the likes of Tomb Raider, Half Life and Portal big grin

As I recall, the author spent a good couple of years putting it together, at the time, I think it would have had potential, if only the bugs and AI were given a few more weeks polish...
