Now I might be a bit late with this, but I've just had a look at the (now not so) new Nintendo 3DS, and it seems to be a rather slick machine. I haven't jumped on the DS bandwagon yet but every now and then I feel tempted to part with my hard-earned cash and buy one. Has anyone here actually got one? A steady flow of titles is the only thing that I'm worried about though, it could just turn out to be a gimmick that eventually evaporates into the abyss, much like the Xbox Kinect (which I'm STILL waiting for new titles for). ...or I could wait a little longer, and buy a shiny new, but rather more expensive (3DS £160 v SV £229/£279) Sony Vita. |

Has anyone here actually got one?Not yet, no. I did drop my DS and break the hinge a few months ago, so I'm definitely in the market for a new handheld (although some superglue would easily fix it), but the 3DS doesn't seem to have (m)any good games yet so I haven't found much reason to buy one. I'm hoping I can hold out until they release a second-generation model with better battery life, because the current model isn't very good in that regards (or at least nowhere near as good as the DS). |

I had a go with one in a shop when it launched. It didn't feel compatible with my eyes or glasses. But I only played Pilot Wings - which apparently isn't a great example of the 3D effect. Haven't seen one since. Can't say I'm particularly taken by the ecosystem either. The hardware and games seem quite expensive, and I've been spoiled by Apple's app store for software distribution - I really can't see myself going out and spending £30-£40 on a cartridge that I have to swap out and look after. But that's just me. I don't play games that much any more. If there are games out there now that you want to play, and you find it physically works for you - then why not get it? |

The only game that really stands out for me is Zelda, although whether that's a good enough reason to buy the console I'm not sure, some say yes. |
