This seemed like the most reliable and active place for things involving Acorn computers. I'm curious to try find a name of an educational game that was readily available to primary schools in england during 1997-2000, I imagine it was probably released earlier than this. I'm pretty sure the game came out in 3 installments, possibly more, but at least 3. In the game you play as an archaeologist on a dig and each time a specific artefact is uncovered, the character travels through time, to the period the artefact is from and then takes part in an adventure to find out the story behind this object. At the time of playing I was very young and I would love to play the game again now. Any leads would be great, simply a name would be enough. Thanks in advance -Richie [Edited by Pyraine at 21:14, 19/11/2008] |

I can't remember the name either, but there was definitely a demo on an Acorn Computing cover disk (and will therefore be on the first Acorn User CD ROM). |

Is there anywhere where I can find information regarding the CD-ROM? I had a quick blast on google but it wasn't very informative. |

I remember! (Thanks Google... Thoogle). It was Arcventure - the three editions were Vikings, Romans and Egyptians. http://shop.sherston.com/products/details.aspx?p=1&prodId=152 Interestingly there are PC and Mac versions available now - but still with the 'Arc' in the name. Presumably there are at least two puns in the name - Archaeology and Archimedes) [Edited by monkeyson2 at 21:36, 19/11/2008] |

I remember! (Thanks Google... Thoogle).Sorry about zombieing this thread but I just found this forum - there were actually 4 editions - the 4th was The Anglo Saxons - I know because I wrote them all - I am now trying to revive the original code to get it running on the Raspberry Pi - it's good to know that people remember all this old software |

Welcome back, good luck with the code updating In case you haven't found it yet, the ROOL forum is the best place to ask if you have any technical questions about getting stuff going on the Pi - https://www.riscosopen.org/forum/ |

Thanks Bryan - it's early days yet (my A3000 won't boot) but I have been over to ROOL and got roms and an emulator up and going - just need to remember how everything worked - it's been nearly 25 years |
