In that case:
a) I shall pester you the next time I see a Ghibli film on TV
b) I won't bother waiting for your list of recommendations before spending my oh-so-important £5 voucher

Yay!

Although S2 is probably better if you like scifi comedy. Which, as previously stated, I have practically no idea about your likes/dislikes beyond UK scifi/comedy :P

Starting at the beginning is good :) I just want to make sure you get far enough to watch whatever bits you like the best.

I'll do you some recommendations at some point.

I found some episodes to hate. Yay!

This aritcle looks to be the longest of the lot, which is good, because there's a lot of back-and-forth between good and bad bits. And also because I state at the start that it's the longest of the lot.

Now I have to try and find a sutiable set of images :o

Yes! I guess I just haven't bothered checking my mail in the last couple of days :P

You can sign me up, I guess. My inbox is already fairly overflowy, so unless there really is a high volume of mail (daily digest? :o) I'm not too bothered about getting spammed by it. It'll probably get filtered into a folder and sumarily ignored anyway :P

Also, I'm contractually obliged to remind you to buy LEXX season 1, in case you haven't yet.

Well, that's one thing to do if you have distribution rights to a large amount of Anime. Although it's interesting how they're still calling it Manga, even though it's really Anime they're selling :P

[edit]

This wasn't the right thread for that, was it?

Hmm, I seem to have (at least) 5 half-finished NTS articles. The Ship review, something EVE related, something about predictability in TV shows, why time travel is bad in sci-fi, and the super-bumper-bonus 5th LEXX article. All in various states of disarray (Although the time travel one seems to be the most written) And possibly a Torchwood recap article, if there are still people who think it was any good.

But, does anyone care? :P

I'm also willing to accept requests, whether for NTS or TIB (Since I'm currently low on ideas there as well).

Erm, recommendations for you. I'll come up with a list...
While waiting for the (hopefully inevitable) GITS:SAC season 2 boxset, I'm currently trying to convince myself that I don't need to spend silly amounts of money on the Farscape Ultimate Complete Collection. But it would be interesting to see some of the uncut episodes, instead of the stuff the BBC put out at 6:45...

Oooh, hang on a minute! Allegedly 26th feb. Yay!

HOW MUCH??? :o

I paid just under 18quid (IIRC) per Season on region 4, with I think about a tenner for The Peacekeeper Wars.

Actually I don't know if what I have is uncut or not.

But it's a science fiction programme.

And it's got muppets.

It must be for kids!

Still, not as bad as the way C4 pissed around with Babylon 5 - especial 'The Final Five'tm

There's the episode (season 4?) where they get taken to (60's?) Earth. When shown on TV, they blurred out the bits where D'argo stuck his finger up at people, thinking it was a greeting. That might be a good test.

Also, there was another episode that I don't remember making much sense at all, which at the time I put down to the cutting. I'm fairly certain it was an ep when they introduced a new character, but I can't remember who :(

Also, the bodyswapping episode comes to mind - I get the impression they had some 'fun' in the other sexes bodies, which may have involved some cutting for TV.

*gets reminded about lots of other cool stuff*

*wants it even more :(*

Actually, I think I'll be OK. Plenty of other things for me to watch in the next few months while I wait for the price to come down.

It's 1985 - Episode 4.12 ('Kansas')

It's Chiana.

And it's not blurred out.

That might be a good test.
Consider it tested. :)

I didn't watch it in full1 - just fast forwarded it until I found a couple of finger raised instances. (The picture Crichton is looking at just after the main opening titles, which Chiana then looks at and concludes it's a greeting; she then does it to a neighbour a few minutes later into the episode.)

1. It's not that long ago that I bought it and had a Farscape-fest. Around the time my previous DVD player decided to crap out, and I put up with dodgy sound on my (older) hard drive dvd recorder (had to keep using percussive maintenance on the top to get the sound working). So, obviously, I don't want to be watching it all again quite so soon. Farscape is much too good to ruin by watching too often.

I'm fairly certain D'argo does it as well, while sat in a car.

But yay! Uncensoredisms.

I've just checked my email archives and found the order confirmations...

It was around June that they were available on R4 so cheaply. The season sets were AUD $40.79 after GST was taken off, and The Peacekeeper Wars AUD $17.25 - but it was only available very briefly at that price.

It was actually the second time I'd spotted it - the first time was about a year earlier but I didn't order them soon enough; when I looked again, the only ones available were the more expensive sets. I thought I'd missed that boat, but the following year I spotted a repeat release and snapped them up.

A quick search reveals you're currently out of luck, though - season 4 can be had for a bargain price, but 1-3 are over £30.

Possibly later in the episode - I'll look further tomorrow. (Right now I'm knackered and my bed looks very inviting).

It certainly seems that way, if we can really conclude that from someone sticking their finger up!

(Actually I should also add that the set is labelled "M15+ Recommended for mature audiences 15 years and over" - which may also indicate that these aren't the equivalent of the Beeb's chopped episodes.)
