For some reason it thinks it can overwrite cells which have already been filled |

*fixes some code to prepare for introduction of the backtracking stuff* [edit] And the overwriting stuff is fixed now. If you check for possible values of filled cells, it actually is possible to conclude that you can overwrite it with a new value [Edited by Phlamethrower at 23:42, 31/5/2005] |

Added some non-backtracking stuff, but it decided to cheat when the puzzle was almost complete and put the same number twice in the same grid |

Just onec0de!I'm impressed. You'll need a funge-98 interpreter (*cough*) to run it. |

I suggest you look at Wikipedia:Sodoku Not only does this have a set of pointers to variants, it also describes some of the more interesting logical possibilities (see for example "unmatched candidate deletion"). And you could add your solver to the list at the bottom, for eternal glory. But I suggest you test it a bit more first. |

I'd better have something important to say for my next one Not only does this have a set of pointers to variantsSo how come I can't find any of them? [Edited by Phlamethrower at 15:16, 1/6/2005] |

You doubt the accuracy of my code?Well, I manually solved the one you posted a picture of, and got the same result. But in my experience just because a program works for one input doesn't guarantee that it will work for everything. Maybe they arn't available on the internetNot only does this have a set of pointers to variantsSo how come I can't find any of them? Actually, I've got a subtle plan for a combined puzzle. Might try and reify an example later. Edit: quoting [Edited by Loris at 10:39, 2/6/2005] |

Pfft, someone in Qercus has written one in BASIC. And it doesn't even support different sizes of grid! Amateurs |

Soduku cover?Metoo. You have teh Qercus?Yes Because clearly there hasn't been saturation coverage of that everywhere else. FFS. If I want to read a RISC OS mag, I want something slightly different than mainstream stuff. |
