If the spool directory is under quota control along with home directories, there is little incentive for anyone to do this, and even without quotas a periodic scan for non-mail files usually takes care of the problem
So basically, they're s*** and because they can't be arsed to do one security thing, the sysadmin has to do two more, expect bad things, and lump it?

Smelly poo heads!

Nope, now it's a meme! It's escaped into the wild!

BTW folks, security is being upped; I didn't have enough time to do as much as I'd have liked before the server went online. Apart from reminding you about the old things like not trying to telnet into the server (because you'll get blocked and not be able to FTP in!), the upshot is anonymous FTP is back, spam checking is getting addressed, and depending on how spamassassin is being implemented I'll even look into getting clam (the freeware virus checker) installed.

Um, are you sure you're not looking at a cached version? TIB stats are showing May results.

No, it's true - it looks like everything since April 25th until the start of May has been lost.

...suspiciously close to when the Apache logs are rotated.

Not sure if I've fixed it, but I've made a few changes that should help. Time will tell.

OK, looks like it's worked this week. Dunno if it'll lead to loads of unresolved network things, but I can make the fixes less aggressive if this proves to be the case.

I've changed the hard limit on PHP script size from 8MB to 16MB, and most of the images are now working. This means that you're using 9MB plus on this script alone!
