I'm starting a thread here, so as not to fill up the "Icon Bar and Acorn Arcade relaunch" news article comments with minor problems.

The links on http://www.acornarcade.com/news/tagsoup.php give errors.

I think it would be nicer if the front page side bar sections like "Sites we like" used unordered lists, because bullets look prettier than "-"s, NetSurf supports lists well now and when the items are forced to wrap lists look more tidy because all the text is indented to the same level, beyond the bullet.

When you try to edit a posting at AA, there is a section of the page in TIB colours.

The little information icons in AA articles use the TIB icon, which does not fit with the AA colour scheme. It only affects articles on the front page. The "Is that a chainsaw in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?" article has one such icon.

Good plan.

The open/closed envelopes which are used to indicate new posts in a thread are misbehaving, the naughty little tykes.

Each time I visit the forums, they indicate new posts in threads where I've already read everything on a previous visit. Posts from before the update are unaffected - it's only posts made since which keep getting flagged as unread.

Clicking on attachements like the one above give an error and the image is sent as text/plain.

I noticed it too. I'm not sure if it is because I read some at AcornArcade and some at TIB.

I really like the "Recent discussions" bit on the front page. It would be great to have that on the left bar of all the forum pages too. :)

At the AA forum, the little ^ icons at the bottom right of each post use the white TIB triangle.

At http://www.iconbar.com/articles/Free_games/index879.html the graphics with the Archive file icon have the dark AA background.

Some recent change has made it so that the AA and TIB frontpages are always slightly wider than the window with NetSurf. Even when you make the window wider, the page stays wider than the window.

Hmm, maybe a new article or spotlight item on there has messed things up.

I get the same problem when viewing only "RISC OS" and "The Vigay", so I don't think it's a new article.

There is a bit of a bug I'd noticed previously, but it's not quite the same - and not nearly as bad.

IIRC, it was that if someone posted to a thread while you were already reading it (including if you posted to it yourself). Specifically, something like this... <cue wavey visual effect>

If there was a thread with new posts, you'd see the closed envelope to indicate it. Read the thread and it would become the open envelope. All good and proper.

If, however, while you had the thread open someone posted to it (as I said, including yourself), when you returned to the index, the closed envelope would be displayed. This makes sense - there's a new post.

However, opening the thread and reading that new post didn't change the envelope to an open one - the only way to do it was to leave the site, come back afresh and read it again. Then the envelope would open. Unless some other bugger posted again...

However, the problem now is that it even forgets across sessions - and it doesn't seem that new posts appearing while you're reading are the cause. On the face of it, it's a different bug - though that doesn't mean to say it's unrelated.

The important thing is that it's more broken that it was before.

Interestingly, though, when I popped along to the forums a second ago and posted the above the whole lot was showing as unread again - but when I shut the browser down and then re-visited to try to see if I could see a pattern, what happened?

Sods Law kicked in, and everything worked as it used to.

Bah.
