Did anyone catch this C4 sitcom? If not, you can watch the first episode if you have WMP.

"Moss lives with his mum, who also dresses him, styles his hair and buys his clothes. He's highly intelligent, scared of spiders and has the social skills of a serial killer. The closest he's got to a woman is Lara Croft, and he struggles to communicate with anything that doesn't have a keyboard."

Definatly him!

The best new sitcom I've seen in ages. Wonderful.

Erm... Moss *does* sound exactly like me. I'm not even kidding :|

In what way? Not all sitcoms suit laugh tracks, certainly, but I think that one is exactly the sort that does.

They're ok as long as they're not too loud (eg. Alan Partridge 2) and don't have the audient member with the world's most annoying laugh.

I never noticed it being too loud on IAP2, although I understand that they realised the mix was too loud, and remixed it for the later episodes. Possibly they remixed the earlier ones as well for the DVD? Of course, someone may have got it wrong and it might never have been remixed at all - Media Guardian managed to report at the time that IAP1 didn't have a laugh track. Erm, yes it did, and it's always had one...

Anyway, I love laugh tracks on sitcoms - at least, the right ones. They enhance both the atmosphere and the performances immensely.

Sometimes I like them, sometimes I don't. I think they work on Red Dwarf (as I'm sure :moss: does), but other times they just seem to annoy me. Not sure why. Possibly, it sometimes has something to do with whether you know it was filmed with a live audience to laugh at it. Dunno.

Anyway, off to bed.

They've broken the third episode with evil DRM, incompatible javascript, and dodgy links!

Ah.... that's why it wouldn't play.
Looks like I'll have to set the TV-Card to record it on friday, and watch the MPEG later.

"We're sorry, but users outside the UK cannot watch The IT Crowd"

:(

Balls.

Watched the first episode before they "fixed" the site. Can anyone grab the wmv/whatever with a Windows util?

Hmm... maybe I can rdesktop into my dad's PC and grab the wmv. :)

It's recorded in front of a live audience, so it's probably real laughter. I didn't actually notice it when I was watching.

I think they hold up bits of cardboard with signs on saying "LAUGH!" :)

Then I'd expect to hear at least one sarcastic "Hah bloody hah" mixed in there.

All 3 episodes aired so far are on UK Nova - There should be a good quality (but huuuge) mpg and a smaller, more compressed one available.

You can tell The IT Crowd's written by Graham Linehan, but that's definitly not a bad thing... :D

I threw that at Google and an acronym lookup type thing because I've no idea what the hell it means. The latter didn't have it, and the only results Google came back with were from from here - and it seems I didn't know what the hell it meant last time, either.

But given the context, my previous guess was clearly wrong.

Well fuck a duck with a mucked up puck, if I haven't just cottoned on to what it actually means! "I've never heard it called that before"
