This utility is very good - it's fast and it rendered correctly every Excel file I threw at it (even an Office 2002 one - not tried 2003 yet). I liked the menu to swap between different sheets in the same file. |

Makers of spreadsheet applications for RISC OS should be falling over themselves to get Anton to write file convertors for their products. The question is: which of those applications are still being developed? |

Acorn could have made Advance into their killer office package, but instead it was a very low-end package. I remember using it at school and wondering why there was no button bar in the word processor - everything had to be done via menus! |

Advance was just a bunch of different apps stuck together though, which acorn didn't write. |

You'd have thought it would have been the killer office suite given that each application was supposedly written by the market leader in each field. Instead, one rather suspects that each party involved saw it as a great way to advertise their own products, resulting in what appears to be a collection of "lite" components, each with ready made upgrade paths. Sort of like Microsoft Works. Maybe it was designed like that. I have a feeling that on Drobe this comment would be moderated down. Top-down cynicism only, or something. |

If this was released as shareware there would eb a flood of people buying it and that could even pay for a part-time coder to help. cheers bob |

Another useful way to avoid M$ software; now if I could find an efective powerpoint file reader I'd be even happier.... |

Well, Chris, I'm sure that mavhc is pleased that he can actually see his comments here without having to view all the other moderated content. One would have thought that there's a certain amount of politically motivated moderation going on over there. |

a) What has this to do with ViewXLS? It's off-topic. Now, if this was on drobe.co.uk, it would probably be modded down, for good reason. b) drobe.co.uk staff set the moderation rules and let the system run, automatically and without prejudice. That's the joy of computers, they don't care. If people don't like a comment, it goes down. If a person makes lots of dumb comments that go down, they get a warning triangle. If a person makes lots of good comments, they get a star. It's online democracy. I also admire your desire to support the underdog, or whatever. Anyway, VXLS looks nice, it opened my Finance and Accounting coursework. Good job, so far. Chris. Just me. |

Chris: a) My apologies to Anton and The Doctor for making the original aside. b) It's a shame. The original unmoderated system worked so well. Bob: Maybe a donation-based scheme would work. |

dave: drop me an email if you want to share your feelings, or use our forum. The moderation system was put in place to counter stupid, crap comments being posted (like this one ;-) and award those contributing to the site content. Chris. Just me. |

Hey cool - I look forward to testing this out. Even Eureka can't load Workbooks, so this is REALLY useful. WELL DONE! |
