The HCC, the Netherlands largest computer club, is to found a RISC OS branch on 11th September. This is the first new computer club for RISC OS since M25EROUG was founded in December 2000, and gives a sign of continued strength of the platform in the Netherlands.
The founding meeting will take place in the HCC main office in Houten at 11:00am local time.
Update: Southampton Acorn Users Group meet again in Room S1 of Itchen College, Middle Road, Southampton, on Monday September 13th, from 19:00 until 21:00. As usual, admission will be free, and, as always, everyone will be welcome! You are welcome to bring along your computers etc. of course.

I wonder why the Dutch seem to be so enthusiastic about RISC OS? There seem to be far more RO users in the Netherlands than any other European country, apart from the UK. It must be their naturally good judgement ;) (although being half Dutch I must declare an interest). At any rate this is really good news. |

It's fashionable these days to resurrect old threads rather than start new ones, isn't it? 
I wonder why the Dutch seem to be so enthusiastic about RISC OS? There seem to be far more RO users in the Netherlands than any other European country, apart from the UK. Speaking of user numbers and user groups, the Bristol user group closed down a few years ago because of declining numbers. At the time, I set up a mailing list so that those remaining users in the area could subscribe and still communicate, possibly arranging informal meetings.
The only subscriber back then was me. Hmm. So in the end I closed it.
However, Trevor Johnson, another Bristol user contacted me a few days ago (having tried and failed to subscribe to the list that no longer exists) pondering whether there is enough renewed interest to start a new group.
Some notes about this are here and, as per the list at the end of that post, step one - the mailing list, the first step in attempting to guage numbers and interest - now exists, as detailed here. |

Edit: Bristol RISC OS Users flyer now available (as seen at the recent south west show - thanks, Jim Nagel and Archive magazine) for distribution to libraries, schools, colleges, electronics clubs, etc. in the area.
